Providing senior living management and elder care services can be a real challenge for family members who do not live near their parents. As each new issue comes up, another trip to South Florida is usually required. These visits are expensive and time consuming. Also there are times when it is simply not possible to go due to pressing responsibilities of job, home, and prior commitments. This is when help is needed!
To avoid Family Chaos, it is important that families talk and learn about the different options that are available when a medical crisis involves a senior family member.
Often adult children are called upon to make decisions that they are unprepared to make. They are emotionally torn while trying to learn new terms and understand the ramifications of the decisions they are about to make.
Senior family members feel that they are in control of their lives when involved in decision making prior to a crisis. Family members are relieved to follow the wishes of their loved one rather than assume that they know what the senior would want.
Frequently, things are not as they have appeared. Seniors, in their desire to maintain their independence, often hide problems from friends and family, and live in denial of what is actually going on in their lives. They are ignorant of solutions, of which there are many, are afraid to speak up, and feel frustrated and hopeless. We ADVOCATE on their behalf.
